Vamvas promoted the different sciences in Greece. His own work concist of Rhetoric Elements of philosophical Ethics, Syntax of ancient Greek. He lived from 1770 until 1856 and made his studies in France. Here he met Korais. After he return to Chios he became the director of the school of Chios.

He made the classes in Greek, Turkish and Latin available, as well as painting, music and mathematics. After the Greek war of independence, he became a monk and taught on different schools throughout Greece.
