


Adamintios Korais


Adamintios Korais was the son of Chiosian merchant and lived from 1748 until 1843. For the most part of his youth he lived Holland and France where he studied philosophy and literature. He is considered to have a significant influence in the "Greek enlightment" and had a big part in the revolution against the Turks.
He believed, freedom and liberation from the Turks would be achieved though education of the Chiosian people. Resulting is the "korais library" big its big collection of books. His own contribution to litareture is amongst others "Brotherly instruction" and "the warriors Song".
