"To Kastro" The castle had an important role in the history of Chios. It was the shelter of the Turks and Genoese but was originally built by the Byzantines. The Castle had many faces throughout its history. Today little is left of the Byzantine and Genoese area. The last 300 years the castle looks like the Turkish rule.

Inside the castle the Giustiniani museum can be found with artifacts of the Byzantine period. Also a Turkish cemetery can be found, were the Turkish leader Phasa lies. Furthermore the church of agios Georgios can be found which was built around 990.
